02 / 06THE CHANGING SHAPE OF POWER
A STORY.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE.
Future Trunks introduces a history in which familiar heroes could not save their world. Preparing for the Androids and Cell gives the Super Saiyans time to experiment: Vegeta increases output, Trunks pushes muscle still further, and Goku and Gohan work toward a calmer mastery of the golden state.
Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 makes the arc an important transformation study. Compare the enlarged Third Grade silhouette with the more focused lightning-marked awakening. One seeks more physical mass; the other communicates a decisive change through sharper shape, expression, and energy. These design differences are more useful than invented power rankings.

SEE THE DESIGN.
Original visual study notes. Choose one observation and try it in a drawing.
Compare the silhouettes
Second and Third Grade widen the figure. Set those shapes beside the sharper Super Saiyan 2 silhouette to see how different kinds of force are communicated.
Draw the calm
Mastery can be expressed through an easy posture and a relaxed face. A transformation does not need every muscle tense in every drawing.
Give lightning a purpose
Use a few clear lightning shapes around the figure. Their direction should support the pose, with the face remaining the first place your eye lands.
